Protestors Against the War in Iraq have Gathered
(Goshen) - Following the President’s address to nation last week that announced major increases in the American military presence in Iraq, demonstrators gathered peacefully in Goshen Square to voice their protest against the War in Iraq.
Michael Sussman, the Convenor of the Democratic Alliance said, “Rather than recognizing that our involvement has made the situation in Iraq worse, that we have been directly responsibility for the deaths and maiming of hundreds of thousands of Iraqi citizens, that our initial invasion was based on lies and violated international law, this President is now going to make matters worse. We cannot stand for this.”
During the demonstration and candlelight vigil, the group shouted protests against the war policy, sang folk music and vowed to continue their protests until there is a real change in direction.
