Red Foxes Swept By Fairfield
(Poughkeepsie) – The Marist women’s volleyball team’s four-match winning streak came to an end Saturday afternoon, as the Red Foxes suffered a 3-0 loss to Fairfield in a Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference contest at the McCann Center . The Stags remained undefeated in the MAAC, improving to 13-0, as they prevailed by scores of 30-13, 30-13 and 30-24.
For the Red Foxes, junior middle blocker Christy Lukes ( Mesa , Ariz. ) led the way with nine kills and hit .412 for the match. Senior middle blocker Sally Hanson ( Guerneville , Calif. ) finished with six kills and four aces. Senior libero Stefanie Miksch ( Austin , Texas ) had a team-high eight digs, and freshman setter Dawn Jan ( Belleville , N.J.) totaled 23 assists.
Lindsey Lee led the Stags with 15 kills, and Katie Mann and Jazmin Pa’akaula finished with eight kills apiece. Barbie Thistle tallied 34 assists. For the match, Fairfield hit .415, committing just 11 attack errors. The Stags improved their season record to 16-6.
Marist fell to 8-15 overall and 6-8 in the MAAC. The Red Foxes will return to action with a home match against non-conference foe Hartford on Tuesday at 7 p.m. Marist’s next MAAC match will Saturday at Canisius.
