(New Windsor) - JetBlue Airways began daily nonstop service between Stewart International Airport and Fort Lauderdale and Orlando, Florida on Tuesday. Beginning January 5, a second daily flight will be added to each destination. Additionally, daily nonstop service to West Palm Beach, Florida will begin January 5, making the low-cost carrier the largest airline serving Stewart International Airport.

According to airline officials at the inaugural flight, the airline is currently offering a special $79 fare each way to Fort Lauderdale, Orlando or West Palm Beach from Stewart. Regular one-way fares to/from Stewart will range from $99-299.
In welcoming JetBlue, Chuck Seliga, President and COO of Stewart International Airport said,

“Today, JetBlue starts flying out of Stewart. I have heard many positive things about JetBlue and the publicity has been extensive. We are happy to welcome them here as our partners and I know that the entire community will support JetBlue’s service in the Hudson Valley.”

Congressman Maurice Hinchey, who has been working with Senator Charles Schumer to get the low-cost carrier to come to Stewart said, “The commencement of low-cost passenger service by JetBlue Airways is another step in realizing the full potential of Stewart Airport. Area residents will benefit from having access to a greater number of affordable and convenient flights to Florida.” Hinchey would like to build upon the momentum at the airport saying, “we need to continue our efforts to improve and expand the services offered by Stewart Airport, which is critical to long-term economic development in the Hudson Valley.”
