Members of the ANG had asked the Town government for permission to rename the road, as required under state law. The Town has responsibility for the naming of all thoroughfares within the Town, to make certain no confusion is created for the postal service or emergency services. The Code Compliance office and the Town Clerk’s office expedited the process, and then the Town Board voted unanimously to approve the name change.
The road was named in honor of General Thomas Maguire upon his retirement after decades of service to the armed forces of the United States.
