First 2007 Baby Born at St. Luke's Cornwall Hospital

(Newburgh) - Watching the many Bowl games on television may have been the big event for millions on New Year’s afternoon, but for one family, excitement came with the birth of a daughter, the first 2007 baby born at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital. Newburgh resident Brittany Davis gave birth to baby Sanya, 7 pounds, 2 ounces, 19 inches, at 1:42 p.m., while many football fans were getting ready for half-time.

Brittany was surprised by the recognition that comes with having the first baby of the New Year. SLCH staff presented the family with a beautiful gift basket full of baby items to celebrate the special occasion. Babies R Us in Middletown delivered another basket to the family.

More than 1,000 babies are born each year at the St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital Birthing Center, which underwent a $4 million dollar renovation a few years ago. In addition to family-centered maternity care and luxury birthing suites, SLCH offers new parents the peace of mind of knowing that newborns who need special care have the attention of a full-time neonatologist and a team of highly trained registered nurses who staff the Elaine Kaplan Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
