Cornwall Medical Pavilion opens

(Cornwall) - Physicians, civic leaders, community members, and St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital administrators and staff celebrated last Thursday, the grand opening of the Cornwall Medical Pavilion, a two-story, 44,000-square-foot facility that brings new health care services to our region. Located at SLCH’s Cornwall campus off Route 9W, the facility will house physicians’ offices, a Center for Wound Care and

Hyperbarics, a Vascular Lab, a locally owned pharmacy, and a state-of-the-art same-day surgery center.
Physician practices currently open in the building include Cataract & Laser Eye Surgeons of the Hudson Valley, PC (Drs. Michael Sayegh and Michael Bywater), and Newburgh Internal Medicine, PC (Drs. Edwin Cowen and Susan Jensen), and East Orange Psychiatric Associates, LLP (Dr. Todd Rochman). Other tenants scheduled to soon occupy the building include Advanced Orthopedics of the Hudson Valley, PLLC (Drs. John McLaughlin, Kenneth Rauschenbach, and Harvey Seigel), and Cornwall pharmacist John Pelella, who will open a second Hazard’s Pharmacy location.

The same-day surgery center, Eastern Orange Ambulatory Surgery Center, LLC, is a partnership between SLCH and 16 physicians. The single largest component of the building, it will feature four, state-of-the-art operating suites and is scheduled to open early next year.
“St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital is proud to be a partner in this exciting venture, which brings new medical services and commerce to the Cornwall community, and increased activity to our Cornwall campus,“ said Allan E. Atzrott, SLCH President and CEO. He noted that the facility will provide convenient, one-stop access to care. “You can see your doctor, have diagnostic tests, undergo a medical procedure, and fill your prescriptions, all without having to move your car!”

An enclosed connector between the Cornwall Medical Pavilion and the adjacent hospital will offer convenience for those accessing services at both facilities. Scheduled to open later this year, the connector was constructed with more than $50,000 in support from two local firms. The late Paul Tibby and his family, of Newburgh Steel, donated more than $34,000 in materials for the connector. The Teutel family, of Orange County Iron Works, covered approximately $20,000 in labor costs for the project.

The Cornwall Medical Pavilion was developed by Landmark Healthcare Facilities, LLC of Milwaukee, WI, which has earned a solid reputation for building quality outpatient health care facilities across the country. The $8 million building brings additional tax revenue to the Town of Cornwall.
