(Poughkeepsie) - Dutchess County, state and federal law enforcement officials have concluded a 12 month investigation into gang activity in the City of Poughkeepsie and environs. In all, 13 people were indicted by a Dutchess County grand jury, said District Attorney William Grady.
All of those charged were members of PNC - Partners in Crime - a gang based in Poughkeepsie.
Grady said one suspect was arrested for first-degree murder, eight were charged with first-degree robbery, four were indicted on assault charges, seven were charged with weapons charges, five were charged with burglaries, four were charged with conspiracy and six were charged with enterprise conspiracy.
The gang members were involved in drugs, obtaining firearms, robbing other drug dealers and intimidation, said Grady.
This is investigation is not over, the DA said. “This event today does not mark the conclusion or the eradication of gang activity in the City of Poughkeepsie, or the gang itself, but it marks a significant and major impact that we have had on the hierarchy of this gang, and therefore, not only will the investigation continue relative to those remaining members in the community, but also other gang activity that continues to take place, but at a much lower level.”
During this phase of the investigation, authorities seized six vehicles including a Lexus and a Hummer, 16 ounces of cocaine, 15 guns, and $45,000 in cash.
