Army freshman setter Maureen Bannon was named the Patriot League/Baden “Rookie of the Week” as announced by the league office Monday. It marked Bannon’s fourth Patriot League weekly honor this fall.
A native of Manhattan Beach, Calif., Bannon registered 29 assists versus Holy Cross in a 1-0 week for the Black Knights. In the 3-0 sweep of the Crusaders Saturday afternoon, Bannon also tallied three service aces, three digs and three blocks. The win secured a spot in the upcoming Patriot League Tournament for the Black Knights.
For the season, Bannon leads the squad with 971 assists, ranking her 10th on Army’s single-season list. She has added 50 kills, 32 aces, 186 digs and 38 blocks.
Army’s Jamie Clark also received honorable mention notice from the Patriot League for her terrific performance during the weekend.
Clark registered a match-high 17 kills versus Holy Cross on 24 attacks with three hitting errors of a .583 hitting percentage. The sophomore middle blocker also tallied five service aces and two blocks against the Crusaders.
The Black Knights are back in action Friday night when they travel to Bethlehem, Pa. to face Lehigh. Army concludes the regular season on Nov. 11 when the Black Knights are in Easton, Pa., against Lafayette.
