(Poughkeepsie) - Senator Hillary Clinton visited the Hudson River Sloop Clearwater as it docked at the city shoreline by Waryas Park. Waiting on the sloop were a group of people from the Astor Home For Children. The Senator interacted with the children by asking and answering questions about eels from the Hudson River, river currents, and fresh and salt-water marine life. When speaking about the Astor Home, Senator Clinton said, “ The Astor program is very well known for it’s great marriage between Astor and Clearwater.” She then added “I strongly support the mission and have always wanted to get on the Clearwater. It’s a tremendous vehicle to educate kids on the river and the environment”.

The Astor Home for Children is located in Rheinbeck, N.Y. and works with handicapped and poverty stricken children.
