Domermuth, Burns and Mannino lead women to 2nd place at MAAC Championship

The lady harriers edged Manhattan College in a tight battle for second place at the 2006 MAAC Cross Country Championships at Van Cortland Park in the Bronx. Manhattan placed three runners ahead of Marist, but before Manhattan's fourth & fifth runners finished, seven Marist women crossed the line to seal second place.

Iona College, ranked 19th in the nation won their second consecutive MAAC Cross Country Championship. Juniors Sarah Domermuth (Voorheesville, NY) and Kerri Mannino (Amityville, NY) placed 13th and 15th with times of 23:08 and 23:10 over the 6,000-meter layout. Freshman Brittany Burns (Watertown, NY) split the juniors finishing 14th with a time of 23:08.

Completing the scoring for the Foxes were juniors Caitlin Garrity (Watertown, CT) and Chris Wahl (Lancaster, NY) who placed 23rd and 24th, clocking in at 23:51 & 23:53 respectively. All five women set Van Cortlandt Park personal bests for 6K as did six other Marist finishers.

The women will travel to Van Cortlandt Park on Saturday, November 11th to compete in the NCAA Northeast Regional Cross Country Qualifier at 10AM.
