Y-Scoop Program Is Well Above Average

The Newburgh Family YMCA’s Y-Scoop After School Childcare Program was recently surveyed by an outside agency. The results indicate that the Program, including overall satisfaction, was well above national average. Nancy Moore, Childcare Director, said “We are thrilled that the survey was so positive, and we continue to strive to enhance the programs that are so vital in serving children and families of our community.” She added, “We are proud of the leadership of our staff and their commitment to fulfill the mission of our organization.” The Leptondale Elementary School site was applauded for its high scores and Cheryl Birdsall, site director, was recognized by Moore and Peter Fogarty, Executive Director for an outstanding job.

The YMCA is the largest childcare provider in the United States and the Newburgh Family YMCA’s program has been operational since 1990.

The Y-Scoop program, licensed by the Childcare Council of Orange County, ensures parents that their children are in a safe and wholesome environment while they are at work. Y-Scoop is offered at nine school sites in five school districts including Newburgh, Cornwall, Valley Central, Wallkill and Highland Falls. Programs offer homework time, games, activities, arts and crafts and recreational time, while teaching the YMCA core values of honesty, caring, respect and responsibility.

Holiday camp is offered at Camp Robbins on most school holidays - a convenient and safe alternative for working parents when the kids are off from school.
