Parking Garage Project With Helipad

(Newburgh) - Sen. Bill Larkin and Mary Louise Mallick, representing Sen. Joe Bruno and the Senate Finance Committee, made a hard-hat tour early this week of the multi-level parking garage under construction at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital’s Newburgh campus. On schedule for November completion, the $15 million project is far enough along that the visitors were able to get a birds-eye view of the waterfront from the garage’s top level, which features a helipad funded in part by a $1 million state grant secured through Sen. Larkin with the support of Sen. Bruno.
“The progress that’s been made truly is remarkable,” said Sen. Larkin, as he and Ms. Mallick toured the garage. “St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital is enhancing the Dubois Street corridor with this beautiful structure that will end a 30-year parking shortage at the Newburgh campus while expediting medevac flights for those patients requiring transport. We’re proud to have been able to support this important initiative.”

Construction of the 550-space parking garage, which features brick archways and will connect to the hospital via enclosed skyway, began last fall. The project will triple the number of spaces previously available in the surface lot that had been located at the site, and will provide convenient, secure, weather-protected access to the hospital.

During construction, free valet parking has facilitated hospital access for patients and visitors. A convenient shuttle service is provided for employees parking offsite.
