Scholar Athletes Receive Honors

(Newburgh) - The Newburgh Enlarged City School District’s Board of Education recently recognized five groups of scholar athletes for their academic and athletic achievements.

Seven students from the girls golf team: Jillian Fishman, Skye Gregory, Isabelle Lok, Tyler McCoy, Jillian Rauscher, Arielle Sharp, and Ashley Zambito, received a composite grade point average of 94.8.

Eleven students from the girls lacrosse team: Ashley Briskin, Elizabeth Curtis, Mary Doyle, Kerry Gannon, Nicole Gosda, Alyssa Introcasso, Elizabeth Kantarakias, Maggie Knight, Madiha Moin, Tracy Younes, and Amy Zizes, received a composite grade point average of 94.6.

Twelve students from the girls track and field team:Chante Coppedge, Shantaee Corlett, Courtney Garrison, Lia Gizzarelli, Catherine Kotlowski, Kerrie Landel, Kiersten McCartney, Tyler McCoy, Brittney Melvin, Catherine Ortiz, Tashena Rochester, and Julie Steel, received a composite grade point average of 93.5.

Twelve students from the boys track and field team: John Confrey, Gilead DeRose, Jeremy Laine, Greg Laraia, Taylor Laraia, Maurice Little, Richard Mitchell, Frank Pierri, Andrew Poggioli, Robert Robinson, Ramon Santos, and Aaron Steele, received a composite grade point average of 90.6.

Nine students from the boys tennis team: Andrew Berg, John Borden, Bruno Frustace, Jaynath Kocherlakota, Greg Lesser, Thomas Mennerich, Neil Patel, Chris Petrosino, and Krishna Sarma, received a composite grade point average of 98.1.

A certificate of achievement was awarded to each student by the Board of Education and the Superintendent of Schools, Dr. Annette M. Saturnelli.
